How to make a Bird Feeder

You need some bird seed, some bread crumbs, some dripping (which is fat) and a coconut!
Get an adult to carefully chop the coconut into two halves. Use a nail to punch through the "eyes" of the coconut. Push string through the holes so you can hang the feeder up.
Melt the dripping and then mix in some birdseed and bread crumbs.
Pile the mixture into the coconut shell. When it has set hard you can hang it up for the birds. They will eat the mixture and then the white coconut. It should last for a while.
The birds liked our first feeder so much, we had to make them 2 more!

Caring for God's Creatures - Making a Bird Feeder

We have  been learning about caring for God's world and God's creatures. We know that birds have trouble finding enough food in the Winter time, so we made a bird feeder so the birds at Saint Paul's won't go hungry!
These photos show the finished bird feeder and if you look closely you can see a bird happily munching!
It was rather hard to get a photo of the birds, as they flew off every time we came near!
This was the first thing we had to do to make or bird feeder. Break up some bread into large bread crumbs.
Some of us had a wee munch of the bread ourselves, as we worked! One for ME.......one for the birds!
