You need some bird seed, some bread crumbs, some dripping (which is fat) and a coconut!
Get an adult to carefully chop the coconut into two halves. Use a nail to punch through the "eyes" of the coconut. Push string through the holes so you can hang the feeder up.
Melt the dripping and then mix in some birdseed and bread crumbs.
Pile the mixture into the coconut shell. When it has set hard you can hang it up for the birds. They will eat the mixture and then the white coconut. It should last for a while.
The birds liked our first feeder so much, we had to make them 2 more!
What a great idea Pukeko class! It looks like you had a lot of fun making this bird feeder, we will have to come and have a look at it some time.
